Youth Experimental Theatre Institute

2011 - 2016

YETI sought to provide opportunities for young adults ages 13 to 23 to explore every aspect of the theatre creation process, to take ownership of their part in self-expression, and to shape the theatre they create in the Greater Seattle area.

We encourage participants to experiment by pushing their own personal boundaries and moving beyond their comfort zones. We also stress that youth can create the theatre they want to see and participate in, and we play a part in helping them realize their potential. YETI strives to create a safe environment for young people to express themselves and learn new skills.

YETI existed to create opportunities for young people in the theatre arts, regardless of experience. Participants of all experience levels were welcome and we encouraged people to try new roles within each production and project.

Akiva Krauthamer - Founder

Akiva got his start in theatre acting but very soon realized that his heart lay backstage. In high school, Akiva found that there were very few opportunities for him to explore the many roles that make theatre happen. From this need, YETI was formed in 2011.
