Gutenberg! The Musical!

August 2016 Co-produced and directed by Bryan Hanner and Daniel Repp.

GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL! is a musical parody which takes the form of a backers’ audition for a new musical about Johannes Gutenberg. Two aspiring playwrights present their historically inaccurate interpretation of the invention of the printing press. The composer Bud and librettist Doug completely believe in the show and will do anything to get it to Broadway. They craft and perform an egotistic yet passionate Gutenberg, a Satan-worshiping monk who wants to keep people from reading, and a full cast of other wacky characters. The night of their piece’s public debut, not only do they have to present the show’s songs and scenes, but they also have to explain the “brilliant” motivations behind each part to convey the full meaning to their audience.

Dionysia Summit

December 2015

In the Dionysia Summit, seven participants received random script pages from pre-existing works in the form of the Prometheus Files a week before the performance. It was their job to create an original script using the words within the Prometheus File. They then had three days to create their show together, building sets, finding costumes and props, and designing lights and sound with no budget. The YETI staff was on hand to help answer questions the teams had, but we let them have ownership of their show and made sure they solved problems using their own skills rather than ours. At the end of the three days, they unveiled their work. And voilà—they made a show!

Razia's Shadow

June 2014 Directed by Kyle Marshall and Produced by Carson Beck

Razia's Shadow is an alt-rock musical born from a concept album released by the indie-rock band Forgive Durden in 2008. The musical tells the story of a world divided in two by the selfish actions of a powerful and egotistical, yet insecure angel. After generations of darkness, the world is eventually brought back together by the love and sacrifice of a couple brave enough to fulfill their destinies. This show focuses heavily on individual experimentation by the actors to flesh out their characters to the fullest extent, and each actor is part of a larger ensemble.
